The Apprenticeship Program is:
- A formal training program that includes:
- Full-time employment
- Learning how to do a task by performing it on the job.
- Learning why a job task is done that way by taking related technical instruction.
- “Hands-on” training, performed under the guidance of a skilled worker.
- Industry-driven training program that promotes a skilled workforce for high-skilled, high wage jobs.
- A written agreement between the apprentice and the employer:
- Designed to produce skilled workers fully competent in all aspects of a specific occupation.
- Guaranteed above minimum wage salary.
- Classroom instructions on academic philosophies associated with the occupation.
- The combination of learning on-the-job and related technical and theoretical instructions for a skilled occupation.
